Thank You

Hello Parents and Families,

I will be going on maternity leave after Spring Break. I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for entrusting me with your child's education. It has been a privilege to get to know and teach each and every one of your children. I sure will miss them!

Mr. Reynolds will be taking over after Spring Break through the end of the school year. He has written an introductory letter to you that I have included below. I know he will do a great job!

Again, it has been my honor to be your child's teacher. Thank you for all of your support this year!

Sincerely,

Ms. O'Brien :-)

Dear 5th Grade Families,

I am excited to be joining your child’s last few months of elementary school. This is an exciting and important time to make sure they are prepared for entering middle school.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and invite you to contact me if I may be any assistance to you with regards to your child. My name is Mr. Reynolds, and I am your child’s long-term substitute for Ms. O’Brien while she is on maternity leave.

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics. Since moving to Colorado, I have been a substitute teacher in the St. Vrain Valley school district, Adams 12, and Boulder Valley. My experiences have both focused on elementary and middle school. Through this time I have mostly taught elementary and middle school math and science with several math long-term positions.

My commitment to the students are to create a safe, productive, and supportive learning environment where your child has the opportunity to succeed academically, emotionally, and socially to the best of their abilities. I look forward to working with each student and supporting them in their learning.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me via email, phone, or by note.

Sincerely,

Ben Reynolds

Valentine's Day is on  Tuesday. We will NOT be having a party, but we will pass out any Valentine's Day cards during the last 15 minutes of the day. If you are sending cards or treats with your child, please be sure to send one for every student in our class. We have 25 students. Students can log in to their Google Classroom account to find a list of names of every student in our class.

Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, 2/15, Thursday, 2/16, Friday 2/17, and Monday 2/20. School resumes on Tuesday, 2/21.

Students will not have spelling or Paragraph of the Week homework this week. However, students WILL have to work on their literature circle books over the long weekend. The expectation is to get at least three chapters completed by Tuesday, 2/21.

February also means we have Parent-Teacher Conferences again. If you have not signed up for a time, please use the link below to sign up. I hope to see you there, but understand if you cannot make it. Thank you to the parents who have already contacted me to let me know you will be unable to attend. I appreciate the heads up!
